What to do in the spirit of terra preta?
In the spirit of terra preta, now is the time to dig deep, reconnect to the richness of our own soul’s earth. We will make art that speaks to the breaking-down and supports the building anew, as our own ways of making peace with this totally surreal transition to a new reality. We hope you will too. And we hope you’ll share it with us.
What makes up the soil in terra preta?
Upon examination, the soil was found to contain charcoal, shards of pottery, scraps of food and bone, and (let’s speak plainly) human & animal shit. In other words, it was created by/within/beneath kitchen middens and trash heaps – and, later, by purposefully mixing charcoal, bone, and composted materials into depleted soil.
Who are the authors of terra preta book?
We’re especially interested in poetry, translation, creative non-fiction, craft essays, literary reviews, art, collage, and photography by members of marginalized communities – BIPOC, LGBTQI2+, womxn, refugees, immigrants, creators old and young, and those who are neurodiverse or differently-abled.
How often does terra preta review come out?
Terra Preta Review will be published online quarterly, each June, September, December, and March. We consider submissions on a rolling basis. We only accept submissions through Submittable. But this is likely to change in the near future, because they only allow us 100 free submissions a month.
